"In the Footsteps of the Ulster Settlers"

The tour began in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

 

 

  

Sylvia Petersheim's Quilts

 

We explored Kitchen Kettle Village, Bird-in-Hand Farmers Market and the Lancaster Central Market.

 

One evening we enjoyed the production of "Ruth" at Sight and Sound Theater.

 

 

We spent a lively Saturday morning in downtown Lancaster City and the Central Market.

 

We visited the Mennonite Information Center and the Historical Society.

 

 

Jim and Joan Ranck welcomed us to their pig farm.

 

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

Then we visited the farm of the Metzlers' Amish neighbors.

  

 

 

Horace Hutton and Jerry Metzler paired host families with their guests from Northern Ireland.

 

 

Then we all enjoyed a delicious BBQ dinner in the Metzlers' garage.

 

Horace and Hylda Hutton befriended the Metzlers' grandson.

 

On Sunday morning we attended church with our hosts. 

The congregation of Hershey Mennonite Church held a potluck lunch for us.

Some tour participants were reunited with family in Pennsylvania!

 

After spending two nights with host families, the group rejoined and we said goodbye to our new friends.

We saw a monument dedicated to the Ulster Guard of New York State.
